Tasting Notes

Château d'Issan stands close to the left bank of the Garonne, as one of the most evocative estates of the Médoc. The Cruse family masterfully manages the château, aiming to express everything that can be expected in a Margaux: aromatic finesse and great structure. After a 2020 in which this domaine has reached one of the highest peaks in its history, in 2021 it aims to repeat itself, and the result is a masterpiece of freshness and balance. The fruit is ripe without excesses, it’s balanced by an acidic skeleton that gives verticality and great drinkability. It’s practically ready, even though it’s only at the dawn of its ageing period in oak, thanks to polite and smooth tannins. Château d'Issan is a great promise for this 2021, which we are sure will be kept over time.
